Michelin is one of the world's largest tyre manufacturers and has truly distinguished themselves from among its competitors. Michelin tyres are considered primarily in terms of safety, longevity and fuel economy and they offer high-performance for both motorcycles and motocross.
The year was 1889. Two brothers, Édouard and André Michelin together owned a rubber factory in Clermont- Ferrand , France. One day a cyclist past the factory and wanted help mend his pneumatic ( air-filled ) tyres. The Michelin brothers spent three hours to remove and repair the tyre, which then was left overnight to dry. The next day the brothers tested the repaired tyre that quickly broke again. Despite this setback the brothers interest in pneumatic tyres began to take shape. They wanted to create their own version of air-filled tyres , a better more durable tyre that did not have to be glued to the rim. In 1891 Michelin took out their first patent for a removable pneumatic tyre , which was also used by Charles Terront when he won the world's first long-distance race bike at the Paris -Brest - Paris. Since its beginning Michelin made a number of innovations in tyres and today the company is one of the world's largest tyre manufacturer. Well respected which is prominent in terms of safety , longevity and fuel economy.
